I mount my 8 hp outboard behind the ladder. The bracket is mounted on studs which penetrate the side panel. When you remove the panel you see two wood mounting boards that are fastened to the fiberglass sides. Bolts come through these boards for mounting the bracket Very stable arrangement.

I agree, mostly useless. I've even disconnected the clutch cables from the salon station to reduce the extra friction. In have a set of cockpit clutches, much more useful when docking or picking up a mooring alone.

I had the rub rail replaced on my 1980 FBC after some storm damage. A New England yard drilled off the old bolt heads, let them fall where they may and then screwed in the new rub rail. It was a disaster! Leaks are abundant. I would stay away from anyone who wants to screw in a new rub rail. Costs o...

Hi Al, So sorry to hear of your health issues. It sounds like you are taking all the right steps, and I wish you the best possible outcome. You did all the right things. Ignoring screening and symptoms is a bad plan. I thought I was done 3.5 years ago when I had by open-heart-surgery, but something w...

Hi Brian, For sure. The entire event was something, with dozens of Bertrams tied up at Newport Yachting Center, lots of free stuff and parties. That's back when they were trying to keep Bertram owners happy and hopefully moving up !! I won't live long enough to see that happen again. Think spring! Ron

I'm not thinking of selling. This mailing was a "cold call", so it could make someone give it a thought. I'm sure brokers are trying anything to sell a boat these days.

It has occurred to me that the fact that a 1980 in MA is listed as sold for a very high price may be some clever marketing on the part of this broker sine he sent it to an owner of a 1980 in MA?

Doug, Just remember the 40 degree rule of winter boating: 40 degrees F or greater; full sunshine; winds < 10 knts; week end day = under way ! Watch the Wx and we'll do it! Ron

Welcome to Boston Harbor, Matt. I'll swing by the Ad Hill in my center console to check out your boat, Rick, I've been killing the cod the last few weeks, but I've been traveling out to just east of the Bank. 10 -15 fish in the 30 - 39" range each trip. Just jigs, and no dogs. Worth the run out!

Sorry, wrong Marina. Boston Shipyard is a a good place, but not from a land based location for me. Otherwise, I'd be there!
