33 SF w/ Merc 8.1s performance
I'm on that same " a couple of years" and then we'll figure out what to do with the old Crusaders. I'm a diesel guy, diesel tractors, diesel truck, equipment, etc. The cost always matters though. Probably end up with some take out diesels... start looking in a year or so. I too would do it myself wherever possible. Honestly my least favorite part of the project in my mind would be removing/installing the cabinets and bulkhead.

Bob, We'll have to look you up when we're SW FL for Red Sox spring training next year. Scott, The bulkhead doesn't need to come out when you re-power. Just pull the manifolds off to get the 454's out. If you re-power with in-line six diesels you'll be all set!

Hey guys just an update I got Bob's boat and have run it from Boston to Glen Cove, NY with a stop in Montauk for a week. I found the sweet spot at 3450 rpms 31.7 Gph and 23.4 Kts GPS yielding just about .85 SMPG not bad!!! Those numbers are with full fuel and water. At the end of the first leg of my trip when the boat was getting a little light 3450 was giving 25 Kts at 31.7 gph. What are you guys burning at 23kts with the Cummins 330s? 25 GPH?
Thank God it's a Bertram

I burn 20gph at 23-24 knots (2400rpms). Coming back from the Cape this summer I was seeing 25-26 knots. I never checked, but I must've had the wind and the current working with me as well. The 8.1's are a great option for those that don't want and/or can't go diesel.
Regards, Doug L.
