Bertram stripes
anyone have a source for the Bertram outside cabin stripes that are usually black
1987 33-SF
I had my blue stripes re-painted with imron 2 seasons ago. It was done outside at my marina. It came out OK, not great, but I'm OK with it as its the best that could be done considering the conditions. No one, and I mean no one up here wanted to do the job inside.

Doug... One day when I paint the boat I will have to deal with the stripes. Are you sure they are all paint? I haven't looked closely, but I when I took a quick look I thought they were stick on decals.

Doug... Thanks.. I am pretty sure he didn't do anything with the stripes.. in fact he got splotches white paint on them in several places, but never removed it. If they are paint it will be easier to deal with them than if they are vinyl.

To All; My 87FBC has black paint outlined top and bottom with gold metalflake tape half inch that has deterioriated badly. I have quote to repaint the stripes and replace the tape for $300, but they have yet to show up for the job. Hope this helps. I have not seen a Bert that has a stripe without fading or bald spots. On mine the borders are not tape but also paint and I don't recall seeing any other boats that are tape.Pretty sure if it's tape it's been replaced. It fades and goes bad pretty quick but it's paint, gold color in fact, faded to more of a silver. Most of them are buffed through because the gelcoat gets yearly compounding and is about 20 times thicker and tougher than paint so the bridge stripes go away pretty quick. I recommend using a two part urethane since it will last much longer than if you do it with boot stripe paint which is just enamel. Doug, Imron is not that expensive, about $300.00 for a gallon and I would guess yours needed less than 2qts.

I am in the process of painting mine. Using Awlgrip. Just sanded old strip with 320 and used a small foam roller. If reduced correctly there is no need to tip. I used the same process on my entire helm area on the bridge. Pretty simple, but, like Doug, I would question how someone could do it for $300 ...... Krylon?
