Scuba from Bert
Syd, that door looks great. Did you have it installed in the states or in Australia? How much did they charge to do it? I know a guy here in Morehead that can do it for me. I may give him a call and get a price. When I'm backing down water floods over my swim platform. I'm little concerned about salt water coming into my cockpit and dripping on my generator. Thanks Buzz

Yes Buzz, it was expensive, and I did have it done here in Aust, I did not want to respray the glass with 2pack paint so it was sprayed with gel coat to match up the colour with the rest of the boat. The total cost was about $5000.00 Aussie Dollars. The Aussie Dollar is now about equal to the American $ but back then when I had it done it was floating around 00.85c I don't know about water coming thru the transom door when backing up against a wave because thats something I don't do. I do a lot of entertaining on board and find very easy for quests to come aboard particularly for women. Its also great for getting onto the marlin board when swimming, I suspect it would also be very help when pulling up large fish but then I am not a fisherman . If you need any further photos or anything else just let me know. Syd
When I first got my B35 and stumbled on the B31 website I asked about installing a transom door and the general answer was don't. After talking with a B35 & B38 owner who had installed a door in their boats, I think I would with the right guy doing the work. br,

Syd... The door looks great! I will have to drop by sometime to see it! While looking at the pics I am struck by the fact that your door is on the port side, while I can't recall any boats I have seen that did not have their doors on the starboard side. Maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention.. but then again, you Aussies drive on the other side of the road too! Regards to Sue!

Hi Frank, Good to hear from you ... yes we do drive on the left side of the road same as the UK.Did Bridget ever tell you why the english drive on the left side of the road? But that is not why I had the transom door installed on the port side. On the starboard side of my boat I have the swim ladder and should the swim ladder be moved to the port side we would have been left with bolt holes in the marlin board and in the stern transom where the fittings are located. By installing the transom door on the portside and swinging open to port would also create more room on the marlin board without the door getting in the way as the door width has remained the same width section as the stern. By swinging out rather than swinging in also creates the space saving. I hope that all makes sense. The invitation I made to you a couple of years still stands and would look forward to it. I'll catch up with you soon with an e-mail Regards Syd
Thanks for the note.. glad you are having fun with the boat.. she looks great! I owe you a note.. will send one soon.
