Head /shower blower

Post by Aussie Syd »

Has anyone here had to replace their head/shower blower in the 1986 plus sportfish , and if so any tips on how to get to it? From what I can see the blower hose is connected to the underneath of the vanity and basin then follows to below the saloon floor and then behind my oven and top cooking burners. It looks like I may have to take out my oven and cooking burners to get to the rear of the hull air vent where the blower must be fitted to, it all looks like a pretty tight fit. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Syd

Hi Syd, If I remember correctly, on my 86 Sport fish(no oven or cook top) I would be better off pulling the refrigerator. (screwed to the floor at the base, one screw each side about 2/3 off the floor through the cabinet and also had to remove the nosing/trim on the edge of the counter in order to be able to slide it inboard to the center of the salon.) Once the fridge is out, on mine there was an alley way behind the cabinet (think the width of the shelf above the counter top, below the side window as well as under the gunwale)that I believe may give you access to the blower motor. While you are there you may see other things you may want to change out. Good luck & enjoy your balmy weather. I notice it is 70 in Sydney today. Over the weekend we saw -17F & our boats are out of the water & mothballed.

Glad I could help & save you some time & effort. Only reinforces what we lost to those hackers. Still ticks me off. You may remember we met when you & your wife came to Boston & went for a ride on Ron Callahan's "SCOUT" in Boston Harbor. Thank You Ron! It's nice to think back on that bright sunny day when here we have cold temperatures & our boats are laid up. Cheers & g'day mate

Yes of coarse I remember you well Gerard, you came with your brother in law if I'm not mistaken , I still have some photographs of the day. My wife and I still talk about the great holiday we had in the US and the harbour cruise we did on board Scout that day with all you guys. I would post them on the site here but I always seem to stuff it up, if you would like to send me your e-mail address I can send them to you, and are quite welcome to put them on the site here for the others to see if you wish. meyer@iinet.net.au Great to hear from you again, Cheers Syd

Ron. You posted a really neat picture of a fleet of Bertram's heading across Buzzards Bay. The hacker managed to wipe that out. I'd like to have a copy of that if you still have it. jrdbri@aol.com

One of my best shots. I won the BOAT US photo contest with that a couple of years ago. Doug, thanks for sending it to Brian.

Ron. You just don't see that anymore. Now it's a fleet of Sea Rays.... I'm going to try to have a print made and frame it.

Hi Brian, For sure. The entire event was something, with dozens of Bertrams tied up at Newport Yachting Center, lots of free stuff and parties. That's back when they were trying to keep Bertram owners happy and hopefully moving up !! I won't live long enough to see that happen again. Think spring! Ron
