Hi everybody, I need to pick some brains. I used heavy duty zincs (2) on each shaft and (1) on each rudder and they were completely gone again this year. My reverse polarity light for my shore power circuit 1 fades in and out, most of the time it is dim or off while the light for my shore power circuit 2 glows strong. I am using a single 30 amp power cord with a splitter on it. (Cord and splitter are new) Can anybody tell me where the A.C.and D.C. Ground on the 35 Bertram is located. Mine is 1979. Or any suggestions what might be going on? Thanks.
I stand corrected, my reverse polarity lights are off, its a light labled "safe" Circuit 1 is red and fades on and off. Curcuit 2 is yellow and glows bright. Any ideas what this light is for and why circuit 1 fades off ond on?
Confirm you are not using Marinco Cords into Hubbell Dock Plug--Sounds Crazy but i proved this at my Fathers dock with an electrician swapping all variables --its the way the cord sits in the plug. ALSO -- pull off the 30 AMP on board plug and check for any corrosion on the wires connecting the backside. I have had the exact symptoms you are having over a number of years and in both cases it was one of the elements above.
Doug, the boat next to me zincs were pretty bad. Two boats over zincs looked good. CSK91, I agree and will go back to 2 cords. Robert, I replaced both shore power receptacles on the boat with new Marinco units. I cut the wiring back and reinstalled. The power cords are fairly new Marinco cords.
Rosco--- What make is the shore power receptacles on the dock?--- its that connection and marriage (or bad one) between the Marinco cord and a Hubble receptacle that can cause the Reverse Polarity.
