Post by Rick »

Anyone know approximately how much I'll be paying to have my windshield re-done in plexiglass ? Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

Rick, Are you talking about the small forward facing shield on the bridge? I have a plastics shop that I deal with, they sell 4'X8' sheets. I was thinking of the replacing mine with a tinted smoke colored one (to match the cabin windows and black stripes) I want to say that a 4'x8'x3/8" sheet is $400 something. I deal with them regularly and usually get a discount. It should be enough to make 2 windshields. right now its not too high on my list, but it is a job I want to do over the winter.

I had mine cut at maritime plastic shop in Annapolis. I have to find the receipt but I think it cost me about $200 or so.

Thanks Guys, Appreciate the offer Tom, but think I'll stick with the original clear. If I leave for fishing at O-Dark-Hundred, I need all the visibility I can get. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

My spray shields were cracked and one corner broken off. I had them cut by a company in Corpus he charged me 180.00 a piece. I purchased a 1 foot section of 1" round starboard from him and made new supports as the original ones were cracked and discolored.

Thanks guys ! I'm going to try and stay local (North Shore of Boston) so I don't have to ship the old ones out. I'll get a few quotes and keep these guys in mind. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

Just to follow up, I got them replaced in Lexan for $60/side....$120 Total. He said he was losing money but stuck to what he quoted even though I offered more, good guy. Veteran's Glass in North Reading, MA. I haven't re-installed yet as I want to paint the support bar around it (thanks Frank Price!) but they look identical. You're welcome Rick. It's much easier to give advice than to do the work..Have fun!
