427 to 454 Engine Swap

Post by Jon »

Our 1972 35’ SF has the original 4 bolt main 427 blocks. These engines are worth $$ around here and I’m interested in swapping for 454’s. Does anyone have experience for such a swap? I know lots have been done. I’m particularly interested in what components can be reused, heads, manifolds, carb, distributors, struts, shafts. Thanks for any help.

How much do you think the engines will bring? I know the crankshafts are very scarce.

The engines have always been in fresh water, both rebuilt in last four years. If the casting numbers are what people want I think around $6,000 each. I’ll have the casting numbers next week.
