Post by waggles02673 »

Wondering if Cat 435hp 3208's can fit in a 86 or later 33 SF?

You probably could, but unless you're getting the engines for a song, there are better diesel engine options out there. I know I would not go near any boat that had that particular 3208 installed.

The story I have been told is that the max power that Cat 3208s can put out reliably is 375 HP. Anything more than that is asking for problems. I believe cooling is one of the issues. In any event I would do a google search to learn more. Cats 3208s were great engines, but, like most diesels if you ask them to do more than they were designed for their service life is shortened. IMHO I would walk away from these engines.

375hp is as high as I would go with the 3208s. There are other powerplant options for our boats, but 3208s are still a great engine with proper care and use.
