Boat heeling toward port side
It’s been a while since I’ve sought advice but my issues haven’t been outside of my realm of knowledge. All things being equal my Bertram 33’ SF heels or lists, to port, when cruising over 20 knots. That is both engines are in sync at the same RPMs, trim tabs working and no noticeable winds. In fact...

Had them taken apart and acid washed about 5 or six years ago. Seems strange to me as well, that’s why I thought I’d check around before assuming that its just the gasket. Water must have been circulating since the temperature held despite the leak. Apparently there’s a filler cap with a pressure re...

Heat Exchanger gaskets
Seven years and running since I first purchased a Bertram. After the initial refurbishing by Worton Creek Marina & Boat Yard I haven’t had many issues. It’s been a wonderful experience and great times on the Chesapeake Bay. Despite economic ups and downs the boat was always a priority. I justifi...

I have had the same issues with my mechanics last summer. Charged me over $4 thousand to replace the fuel filter system and rebuild the carbs. I had more problems after they refitted the fuel system then before. Next, they tried blaming my problems on a leaking fuel tank (gas in the bilge). Anyhow, ...

Thanks Mike. I had a 28' Wellcraft at Anchor for 10 years, it is convenient. I looked at a 35' Bertram Convertible for sale at BBW, it was in the shed - was that your boat? quote:Originally posted by Mike_Lenz Heinz, A second recommendation to replace you tank if needed is Bay Boat Works in North Ea...

I am interested in trying your recommendation. The caveat is that the gas was pumped out of the tank. I am meeting John from Worton yard tomorrow and will pass this on. Why didn't my mechanic think of this? I'd come up to MA, however, a bit cost prohibitive on gas engines. Hopefully there will be a ...

Good question. Should I call the manufacturer of the filtering system. This thought occurred to me. There would be a miss match between the fuel pump to filter pressure ratio or something...... The old lines may be leaking when the system is under pressure. quote:Originally posted by BECCA ROSE Can ...

I’ve thought about repowering with diesel but considered the return on investment prohibitive. I assume that one has to replace not just the engines but also the trans, exhaust, cooling system and shafts as well. Is there a market for used Mercruiser? Who would investigate whether the tank has faile...

That's right. I had an ethanol problem, as did most of the boats around me this summer. The old filter system was replaced with a higher micron system and the carburetors were rebuild. After that, gas started appearing in the bilge. One other event that occurred was that I filled the tank full for t...

Doug - That's a good question. I went through all the trouble shooting steps recommened on this forum and did not find any probable cause for the gas in the bilge coming from the engines. This includes the fill hose and any lies from the filters. Beyond the generic I, nor does my mechanic, have any ...

Frank - Nobody stops to talk to an owner of a Rinker about his boat. People have walked across 15 docks to talk about mine. quote:Originally posted by franklyprice I would say that if it's feasible at all to get the boat to a mechanic you trust and has a great reputation on Bertrams then I would do ...
