Robert, You asked about cockpit panels and I thought I'd share my experience. For non-access panels of my B35 in the cockpit and flybridge I used komocell based on the yards advice. for 2-3 years it was white unfinished and didn't yellow. Last year when I did my salon wall I painted with Interlux Perfection, a very easy process. As for access areas, with a door or not, I think I'd go with a good mahagony ply finished with a smooth plain white laminate (you can paint to color). This is basically the original setup and is more sturdy for opening hatches, easy enough to do and cheap enough to replace. Shoot me an e-mail with your cell, I may have some time over the next few days and would love to check out you're progress johndunker@yahoo.com br, JohnD

FrankB — thanks for the offer and thanks for your help when I began this project. If we actually have good weather and get outside we always tuck back in between Masonboro and Cape Fear so ill keep you in the loop on our trip…Ive been using a SPOT and friends track us… ill email you that link as well.. we are planning on departing around 11/18. SeanB–Like anything with a boat we hope for the best and plan for the worst… based on some guestimations I think if I should have an safe range of 300 (still with about 15% reserve).. I will not really know this till our first few full days of running (even more then Cruise Speed..the Fuel Burn Numbers are what I’m looking most forward to discovering)…If I don’t see numbers like what I’m expecting ill just stop in Ft Prc… Of course simply deciding to stay outside will totally be weather dependent so I Might simply be stuck in Sailboat-leapfrog-hell the whole trip. JohnD — Left you an email… her cockpit deck is still off so tmrw is great day to check her out...Shes at Sarles.

Robert... Good luck and I will look for the SPOT link.. we tracked friends doing the Great Loop last year with one.. they work great. If you run like the rest of us you will probably average about 1 gal of diesel per nautical mile.. my boat was always diesel so I have only a 260 gallon tank.. you most likely have 320? Hope we can meet up with you.

Sounds pretty good, what is a conservative cruise rpm with these high revving Yanmars? By conservative I mean maximum engine life. How much faster are these 370s than the 330s? Is the upgrade worth it? Thanks

Thanks Thank God it's a Bertram I thought these were cummins - not yanmars. And they are not high reving. Arent they a 2800 rpm engine. The high RPM Yanmars are significantly higher -

Duh my bad. Same question then, skip the hi-revving Yanmar comment.

Robert, Congrats. You're getting close. I think you should be shooting for 3100-3150rpms at WOT under load.

Congratulations ! All that work will seem like a distant memory ina few months and you essentially have a brand new boat.....one that can't be bought at any dealer. All I hear from everyone that repowers is the handling of a following sea. I don't think a following sea is all that bad with gas engines....and I've followed in some pretty good ones. So I'll be interested to hear your opinion after a few months. Now, take the next 6 months off and enjoy it ! Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA
